Description

Cinnamon, (Cinnamomum verum), also called Ceylon cinnamon, is bushy evergreen tree of the laurel family (Lauraceae) and the spice is derived from its bark. The Spice, consisting of the dried inner bark, is brown in colour and has a delicately fragrant aroma and a warm sweet flavour.
Cinnamon is a spice that comes from the branches of trees of the Cinnamomum family. It is native to the Caribbean, South America, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. Gourmet Cinnamon (Indian) Ground is one of the oldest spices and consists of dried inner bark which has a warm sweet flavour. It is a kind of cassia, hails from the hills of Kerala. Cinnamon is used mainly as an aromatic condiment and flavouring additive in a wide variety of cuisines, sweet and savoury dishes, breakfast cereals, snack foods, teas, and traditional foods.
Cinnamon is well known for its blood-sugar-lowering properties. Apart from the beneficial effects on insulin resistance, cinnamon can lower blood sugar by several other mechanisms.
